If you've found yourself brainstorming ways to improve your presence on YouTube, featuring other channels on your channel might be your answer.

Besides, what more could a YouTuber ask for other than guaranteed views and subscribers?

Before you get too excited, remember that featuring channels on your page doesn't necessarily mean their views and subscribers automatically translate to yours.

However, it's a plus if the channel you want to feature has similar content to yours to reach a larger audience.

Some YouTubers have taken advantage of this feature to link their multiple channels under their more popular one to promote the rest.

If you are a YouTube content creator and wish to take advantage of this initiative, this guide is for you.

It contains all you need to know about using and exploring this feature to boost your YouTube channel.

A featured channel on YouTube is a channel that you aim to promote on your page. Consequently, it appears on the right-hand side of your page.

Featured channels are added to a YouTuber's page to promote viewership for their channel and to help increase viewership to the featured channel.

This is made possible as YouTube’s algorithm recommends videos from the featured channels to the viewers who watch videos from your channel.

Think of featuring other channels on your page as an endorsement of their content.

So when you decide to feature a channel on your page, you’re basically saying you approve and relate to their content.

This is a win-win situation for both your channel and the channels featured.

How exactly, you may ask?

The implication is that when any of those featured channels is visited by viewers, your channel also pops up as a suggested channel to visit. This simple act directs traffic to your YouTube channel.

With this in mind, featured channels on Youtube are also a great way to promote existing channels and link them to your newly created channel.

In addition, this creates an avenue for your viewers and subscribers to be aware of and visit your alternative channels.

Linking your various channels adds credibility to your channel.

In addition, viewers of the featured channels are kept at ease because the channels visited are linked to those they had visited earlier.

Another thing that makes featuring channels so important is the fact that it aids collaboration with fellow content creators on YouTube.

The power of building a solid community on YouTube cannot be overemphasized, and featuring other channels bolsters this.

How to Feature Channels On YouTube

So you've decided to feature other YouTube channels on your channel. How, then, do you go about it? Luckily, that's what this guide is all about.

Follow these six easy steps to add as many YouTube channels as you want to yours.

Step 1:

Go to the YouTube application on your desktop and log in to your YouTube account.

Once logged in, click on your profile at the top right corner of your screen. This would display a list of options to select from.

Step 2:

Click on the "Your Channel" option, which is the first option on the list displayed.

This would take you to your channel page, where the options "customize channel" and "manage video" await you.

Click on the "customize channel" option.

Step 3:

You will be redirected to your channel homepage and dashboard settings. This is your primary channel personalization page.

From here, you have access to customize your channel page to whatever layout or branding effect you find most suitable for the content on your channel.

Before proceeding, ensure that you are still on the layout page. Leaving this page would only prevent access to the content of other channels.

Step 4:

Scroll to the bottom of the layout page till you come across the "featured section," with the option to "add section" to the right of your screen.

Click on the "add section" option, and a list of options will show up on your screen. Select the last option, which is "featured channel."

Step 5:

Under the "Featured Channel" layout, you can choose any title for this section. Next, type in the name or the URL of the channel you want to feature in the search bar. Finally, you can select multiple channels you want to feature on your channel.

If you do not like a particular channel, you can easily delete it using the trash icon to the right of the selected channel.

There’s also the option of adjusting the placement of the chosen channels to be featured. You can do this by clicking and holding down on the channel and moving the cursor either upward or downward.

Step 6:

After selecting and going through all the featured channels chosen, you can now click on the "done" option.

And there you have it!

Factors to Consider Before Featuring a Channel on YouTube

There are specific considerations that need to be taken into account before featuring a channel on YouTube.

Meeting these requirements would enable easier access to feature channels on your YouTube channel.

To this end, here are some key factors you need to consider before deciding to feature a channel on  YouTube.

High-Quality Videos and Content

If you ever take the time to observe the content of top YouTube creators, you will easily find out that the one thing they all have in common is high-quality videos and content.

Before featuring any YouTube channel on your channel, pay close attention to their video quality and content. Otherwise, traffic will be reduced if either channel falls short of this.

Evidently, putting out low-quality videos will only repel viewers from a channel and make them question its credibility.

Similar Subject Matter

Another essential thing to consider is ensuring that your channel's subject matter and the featured channel's subject matter are aligned.

If there is any conflict between your channel's theme and subject matter and that of a featured channel, it will not appeal to the interests of viewers and subscribers.

To avoid this, there must be some similarity between your channel and the featured channels.

This enables the YouTube algorithm to direct traffic to both channels.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why Can’t I Feature a YouTube Channel?

This problem can arise due to several factors, one of which is the need for more content on your YouTube channel.

When you fail to post content on your channel, you won't be able to feature other channels and vice versa.

This would, in turn, attract less traffic and lead to reduced viewership.

Can You Feature a Channel on YouTube Mobile and YouTube Desktop?

You can easily feature channels on your YouTube channel via your laptop or desktop application.

However, the YouTube mobile version does not give room for adding a featured channel.

This feature is only available on the desktop version of the YouTube application.

Bottom Line

One of your primary concerns as a YouTube content creator is most likely gaining views and subscribers for various reasons.

While some are concerned about monetizing their YouTube channels, others may be concerned about spreading information on their channels.

However, regardless of the reasons for creating a YouTube channel, views, subscribers, and heavy traffic are the paramount needs of every content creator.

Featured channels are one of the many ways to attain these targets. Consequently, it would be in your interest to pay attention to the above-listed factors in order to take full advantage of this initiative.

With that, you’re one step closer to harnessing the full potential of your YouTube channel. Godspeed!
